The Academy is only 1.3 Miles from The Berners Hotel

The Academy is just a whisper away from the British Library and the British Museum, only a stroll away from the shops and attractions of the West End, lies a sanctuary a million miles from it all.

The Academy is an elegant 4 star townhouse in Bloomsbury known as The Academy, a boutique hotel where your comfort is paramount. Here our couches are for sinking into not perching on, our food is for savouring not picking at, our beds are designed to give you the soundest night's sleep.

Outside you'll find a private garden, just for hotel residents, where flowers fill the generous space with colour and delicate fragrance and a fishpond ripples softly in the quiet. It's hard to believe you're in the heart of London's West End, but you are.

The Academy in London Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury is a fashionable residential area in London's West End made up of Georgian terraces and leafy squares. It came to the world's attention in the early years of the 20th century thanks to the Bloomsbury Set - a loose collection of intellectuals, the most famous of whom was the novelist Virginia Woolf. They achieved notoriety thanks to their liberal views, and the area still retains some bohemian character.

The Academy is in London's West End, famous for its shops and theatres. Walk the cobbled streets of Covent Garden, a converted flower market now full of fashionable boutiques. A short walk from The Academy are the shops of Oxford Street, the nightlife of Soho, restaurants of Chinatown, and the history of Trafalgar Square, The British Library and The British Museum.

Catch a show, take a stroll, or just relax in a café and watch the world go by.

The Colonnade is only 2.5 Miles from The Berners Hotel

From the sweetest smelling flowers in the lobby to the temptingly plumped sofas in the lounge, it's the attention to detail that makes The Colonnade in Little Venice distinctively different.

For each of our guests, there's something that especially appeals. For one it might be the chance to sip crisp white wine on the outside terrace and watch the world go by.

For another, the prospect of stretching out in a bath of bubbles and soaking away their worries at the end of the day. For a third it might be the business facilities - broadband internet, dual phone lines, modem points. But one thing is for sure: at The Colonnade we've got the mix just right.

The Colonnade in London Little Venice

So where have we hidden The Colonnade? Our townhouse hotel is situated in Little Venice, one of London's most scenic areas. It's next to the Regent's Canal, a real hidden treasure. Originally designed for transporting trade into the capital, this picturesque waterway now offers visitors a chance to take a stroll along the towpath, or even a boat trip to Camden, London's bohemian hub.

Canal life gives the area something different. There's a puppet theatre barge and a floating art gallery, not to mention waterside cafes and pubs. In a city famed for its hustle and bustle, this is a real chance to catch your breath.

A short taxi ride away is London Zoo in Regent's Park, Lords Cricket Ground and Notting Hill (for famous Portobello Road Market). Hyde Park is only ten minutes by London Underground.

Football matches and live concerts at Wembley are easy to reach from The Colonnadel by underground via Baker Street.

Large events and exhibition venue Earls Court is approximately 20 minutes away.

Threadneedles is only 3.4 Miles from The Berners Hotel

It's hard to define what makes Threadneedles boutique hotel so special. Perhaps it's the smooth warmth of walnut walls against the cool blonde of a marble floor.

Maybe it's the oh-so-deep pile of an oriental carpet that's a contemporary work of art in its own right.

Or possibly it's the breathtaking beauty of light filtering through a Nineteenth Century dome of stained glass.

Most likely it's not one, but a combination of all these ingredients and more. For the Victorian banking hall turned city boutique hotel is nothing if not a multitude of textures and complementary tones, a perfect blend of past and present.

Voted by Conde Nast Traveller as one of the top 50 hotels in the world.

Threadneedles in the City of London

Threadneedles is located in the heart of London's financial district, the City. It's the oldest part of the capital, offering distinguished landmarks such as the Bank of England, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London and London Bridge. But there are modern classics too, such as the Lloyds Building and Swiss Re Tower; two of the London skyline's most striking upstarts.

The arts too are well represented, not least by the world-famous Barbican centre and the Tate Modern. All these are a few minutes stroll from Threadneedles, and the fashionable West End is a mere tube or taxi ride away.

For major music events, the 02 arena is only 6 stops by underground door to door. Old Billingsgate, the popular event venue, is approximately a 15 minute walk from Threadneedles.

Large conference and exhibition spaces are nearby. The Business Design Centre in Islington is 3 stops on the underground, Truman Brewery is a 5 minute taxi ride, ExCeL is directly linked by DLR from nearby Bank station, Whitechapel Gallery is 15 minutes by taxi and Earls Court is approximately half hour away.
